Medical School bill goes to the vote

PARLIAMENT is expected to pass a law tomorrow setting out the operational regulations for the establishment of the Cyprus Medical School.

According to the Chairman of the House Education Committee, Nicos Tornaritis of DISY, the establishment of the Medical School has been deemed a necessity by the government and University of Cyprus.

The School will educate doctors and offer them life-long learning, as well as give training to Cypriot doctors and nurses.

“Furthermore, the School will contribute to the improvement of the current public medical services,” said Tornaritis.

“From today and of course following the expected vote in favour of the regulations by the Plenum on Thursday, the Medical School is now a reality,” he added.

The House, said Tornaritis, had done its part in the issue. “It is now up to the government to move ahead at a fast pace, while the Education Committee has decided to suggest the regulations’ approval this Thursday.”
