Junior football teams compete in bi-communal match

Authorities urged to install cycle racks in towns

THE Environment Commissioner yesterday sent guidelines to all municipalities across the island, urging them to install a bicycle parking system.

Charalambos Theopemptou explained that the specific system is used all over the world and is “very cheap and easy to install.”

He added that there is nowhere in Cyprus where people can currently safely leave their bicycles.

Rejected Cypriot Eurovision entry wins glory for Greece

CYPRIOT singer Marlain Angelidou has won an international music festival by representing Greece with ‘Rejection’, a song that ironically was rejected for representing Cyprus in the 2008 Eurovision Song Contest.

Tylliria residents join forces to demand crossing

GREEK Cypriots and Turkish Cypriots from the area of Tylliria yesterday held a joint demonstration outside the UNPA for the opening of the Limnitis crossing as Cyprus talks got under way.

Residents have been pushing for the opening of Limnitis since the first crossing opened at the Ledra Palace in April 2003.

Larnaca man sues for €10 million over porn trial

A 49-YEAR-old Larnaca importer and his family are seeking €10 million in damages after their lives were destroyed when he was arrested on pornography charges over three years ago.

Charilaos Charilaou was acquitted of all 18 charges connected to the importation of pornographic DVDs and videos in early 2005.
