Man shoots ex-wife dead

A MAN from the village of Kyra in the north has shot his ex-wife dead.

Huseyin Inci, 32, shot Ayse Kanat then tried to commit suicide.

According to authorities, the 35-year-old woman, who received a gunshot wound to the head, was killed instantly.

Inci, who then shot himself in the head, was rushed to a hospital in occupied Nicosia where he underwent emergency surgery.

His condition is said to be critical.

The reason behind the shooting is not yet known, with Radio BRT reporting that the two had divorced a year ago.
