Monarch to fly new Birmingham route

THE Cyprus Tourism Organisation (CTO) has announced the opening of a new air connection between Larnaca Airport and Birmingham International Airport by Monarch Airlines, next spring.

According to an announcement, issued yesterday by the CTO, Monarch will begin operating the new connection twice a week, from March 29, on Wednesdays and Sundays.

The CTO pointed out that the new air connection constitutes a significant development to improve Cyprus’ accessibility.

Currently, Monarch operates flights to Larnaca from Gatwick, Luton and Manchester airports.

The CTO also noted that a number of airlines, including Easyjet, SkyEurope, flyglobespan, Jazeera, Lufthansa and Emirates, have either initiated air connections with Cyprus, or expanded their routes to Cyprus.

“The CTO will soon announce a strategic plan for developing new air connections between Cyprus and other international airports,” they said in an announcement.

Commenting, Managing Director Liz Savage said: “We are delighted to be expanding our network to the Eastern Mediterranean with the launch of services to Cyprus from Birmingham.

“I am sure that the people of the Midlands will warmly welcome the introduction of this service.”
