Cyprus cultural drive in France

CYPRUS is participating in cultural events organised by France during its six month rotating EU Presidency.

According to an official press release, Cyprus is represented at the events with theatre, music, fashion and the arts.

“The aim of the Ministry of Education and Culture is to secure the intense presence of Cyprus during the whole term of the French presidency, with the Week of Cyprus and other events organised in co-operation with the Republic’s Embassy in Paris, with the participation of established Cypriot artists.”

On August 26, an exhibition by Cypriot artist Nicos Charalambides will be presented at the Pompidou Centre in Paris, under the title ‘Ledra Barricade’.

It deals with the architectural division and the symbolism that affected it until the recent demolition of the barricade and the opening of the historical street in the old town of Nicosia.

Permanent Secretary of the Ministry Olympia Stylianou will be present at the inauguration.
