THE AIRPORT Shuttle Bus service operating since July from Larnaca Airport has proved a runaway success, as more and more Cypriots chose to use it for their transport.
In operation since July 14, around 16,000 passengers have chosen the shuttle bus service for their transport to and from the airport – a huge number given that the service has only been running for two months.
The owner of the Kapnos Airport Shuttle, Pambos Kapnos, said that “passenger response to the service is very good and the comments made are more than positive”.
“The offer of €5 for a comfortable airport transfer in a fully air-conditioned bus with no extra cost for luggage and a free parking space is very enticing,” he said.
He added that the frequency of the shuttle’s daily schedule was also very convenient for passengers.
The majority of passengers who use the shuttle bus are from Limassol, with numbers reaching 2,434 in July and rising to over 5,800 in August.
According to official records, on Saturday August 16 alone, 506 passengers chose the shuttle service for their transport to and from the airport.
In Nicosia there is a continuous increase in passengers choosing the service and Kapnos said that the most productive day was on August 8, with 375 passengers moving with the bus to and from the airport.
Until today, around 7,000 Nicosia passengers have taken the shuttle bus to and from the airport.
He added that around 300 passengers per day use the shuttle service, which means around 10 buses.
“Many tourists also increasingly prefer the shuttle service for their transportation and many are informed of the daily schedule via our website www.kapnosairportshuttle.com. We also have an office at the arrivals area of the airport from where our trained employees can inform the passengers,” Kapnos said.
The Nicosia supervisor at the shuttle’s departure point at the Philoxenia Hotel, Costas Chrysou, said that “there is an increased demand and we hope that the service will succeed and will continue. We also hope that it will be appropriately assisted by the state by providing the relevant infrastructure”.
Kapnos added that “we have also imported modern luxury buses from England with toilets and television for use whenever it is deemed necessary.
“It is a matter of time for Cypriots to realise the advantages this service has to offer,” Kapnos said, adding, “people will embrace it more and more and those who have already used the service will use it again”.
Kapnos urged the public to make reservations (by calling at 77771477) so that the appropriate amount of buses could be prepared for the better service of the passengers.
