Cypriots warned to avoid Caucasus war zone

THE Foreign Ministry is advising Cypriot citizens to avoid travelling to the conflict areas in South Ossetia until the situation returns to normality.

Cypriot citizens who are in the conflict area and face difficulties may communicate with any EU member state embassy in Tbilisi.

In case of emergency, they may communicate with the duty officer of the Ministry in Cyprus at +357 99-660129, or with the Directorate of Consular Affairs at +357 22-401124, 22-401216, 22-401154 and 22-401155.

Foreign Minister Marcos Kyprianou is to participate tomorrow in the extraordinary EU General Affairs and External Relations Council, which will discuss the situation in South Ossetia.

French Foreign Minister Bernard Kouchner is expected to brief his EU counterparts about his meetings in Moscow and Tbilisi.
