Five villages living off bottled water as borehole runs dry

FIVE LIMASSOL villages were still living off bottled water yesterday, after it was discovered that their water supply had become contaminated.

The villages of Yerasa, Paramytha, Spitali, Palodia and Apsiou were receiving water from a borehole in Ayia Paraskevi until Friday, when tests showed the supply had high levels of salinity and was unsuitable for human consumption.

Cyprus problem solution ‘must come from Cypriots’

THE United Nations agree that any solution to the Cyprus problem must come from the Cypriots and not from outsiders, President Demetris Christofias said last night.

“With the UN we confirmed that this time, considering the bitter experience of the recent past, the solution must come from Cypriots and not from outside,” Christofias told reporters at Larnaca airport.
