Drug ring cracked open in sting

THE DRUG SQUAD yesterday uncovered a massive drugs ring in a sting that has been in operation for the past few weeks.

Three drugs barons, two Greek Cypriots and a Turkish Cypriot, were yesterday arrested and kept in custody, while police were also searching for another Turkish Cypriot, believed to be a big heroin dealer.

European Commission awards €5m in scholarships to Turkish Cypriots

AROUND 120 Turkish Cypriot students and teachers have been awarded scholarships by the European Commission, a press release announced yesterday.

This allows them to study an undergraduate or postgraduate programme or engage in research in any of the other 26 Member States of the EU for the duration of maximum one year.

BA Paphos-Gatwick service kicks off

BRITISH Airways has celebrated the launch of its new daily Paphos to Gatwick service with an event at the Intercontinental Aphrodite Hills Resort Hotel, near Paphos.

The new flights operate seven days a week and bring the number of scheduled flights operated by British Airways between Cyprus and London every week to 14.
