Two Romanians remanded for credit card scam

TWO MEN, a 45-year-old and a 21-year-old, both from Romania are in remand, suspected of stealing over €22,000 from ATMs in Limassol using fake credit cards.

The two men were arrested yesterday, after police received information from a bank clerk that someone was trying to withdraw money from an ATM using a fake credit card.

New museum to record history of Limassol

LIMASSOL is finally getting its own History Museum, which will be housed at the old building formerly used as the residence of the District Administrator. The building will undergo extensive renovation and refurbishment, and the museum is scheduled to open its doors to the public by April 2009.

Traffic costing €100m a year

TRAFFIC CONGESTION is costing us €100m every year, it was claimed yesterday. The estimate was made by Director of the Public Transport Programme, Michalis Lambrinos, who said the costs are a result of the continuous construction of new roads and from fuel prices that have become “unbearable”.

Armed robbers in Chlorakas bank heist

ARMED ROBBERS made away with €40,000 yesterday, after a holding up cashiers in the Bank of Cyprus in Chlorakas village in Paphos.

Five men, two of them Palestinians with Jordanian passports, were later arrested. One of them had €8,000 on him that police believe came from the robbery.

New initiative brings hope for parents of children with special needs

A SPECIAL programme for children with mental illnesses will be presented in Cyprus next week.

The Vice-president of American non-profit organisation Institutes for the Achievement of Human Potential, Douglas Doman, will hold a series of educational workshops this Wednesday and Thursday at the European University of Cyprus (former Cyprus College).
