Motorcyclist fighting for his life

PETROS Georgiou, an 18-year-old is fighting for his life after his motorcycle collided with a pick-up truck on Saturday evening at Meneou in Larnaca.

Specifically, at 7.20pm a 72-year-old pensioner from Dromolaxia was driving his vehicle on Acropoleos Avenue in Meneou.

Under circumstances which are still being investigated, the pensioner cut off Georgiou’s high-powered motorcycle in an attempt to turn right onto Vasilis Michaelides Street.

Georgiou, a Meneou local, catapulted off his motorcycle and sustained severe cranial injuries as well as other body wounds.

He was initially transported to Larnaca hospital but the severity of his injuries warranted a move to the Intensive Care Unit at Nicosia General Hospital.

The 72-year-old scored a zero on an alcotest conducted by police.
