Second Dutch woman held for drug trafficking

A SECOND Dutch woman has been arrested and held in custody on suspicion of drugs possession and trafficking.

She was remanded for eight days by the Larnaca court yesterday after police allegedly found traces of cannabis in her hotel room. Under questioning police say she admitted to importing 15 kilos of cannabis, which she had handed over to a local contact in a meeting in her hotel room on Thursday.

The 24-year old was arrested at midnight on Thursday at her Larnaca hotel. Police said she confessed to having been paid €3,000 to bring the drugs to Cyprus.

On Wednesday a 20-year old Dutch woman and a 25-year-old Greek Cypriot were remanded in custody after police found 12.6 kilos of cannabis, imported from Holland for distribution in Cyprus.
