Police issue description of car involved in hit-and-run that left boy critical

POLICE have secured a description of the car that was involved in an accident last week that left a 10-year-old fighting for his life in Nicosia General Hospital.

The car fled the scene after an accident in Limassol with the boy’s 50-year-old father on May 17.

According to the head of Limassol traffic police, Yiannakis Georgiou, the police managed to secure a witness report, describing the car as “a white Mitsubishi Lancer, with a white spoiler on the back and noisy exhaust pipe”.

Georgiou said the police were investigating all districts, while a list of hundreds of cars of the same type and colour has been prepared. Car garages are also being checked, in case the driver took his car to be repaired.

The accident took place near the Polemidia roundabout, when the white car’s driver attempted to overtake the 50-year-old but ended up colliding.

The 50-year-old, his 42-year-old wife and 10-year-old son were all injured, though the little boy is still in critical condition after suffering head injuries.
