Cyprus aid team in Kenya

A DELEGATION of the Cyprus branch of the ‘Doctors of the World’ is currently in Kenya offering medical assistance and medicine to people there.

Air traffic up 12 per cent

AIR TRAFFIC in and out of Cyprus increased 12 per cent in 2007 and is expected to rise another 12.2 per cent during 2008, according to forecasts by Eurocontrol, the EU’s organisation for the safety of air navigation.

The latest Eurocontrol report said that after a period of stagnation, growth of air traffic movement in Cyprus would average five per cent over the next five years.

New Australian High Commissioner named

EVAN Williams has been confirmed as Australia’s new High Commissioner to Cyprus, replacing Garth Hunt in June.

BirdLife slams ‘backdoor permission’ to shoot Turtle Doves

A GOVERNMENT decision to allow spring shooting of crows yesterday provoked a strong reaction from BirdLife Cyprus.

The organisation said it viewed the decision as “backdoor permission” to hunters to shoot protected Turtle Doves (Streptopelia turtur).
