The University of Cyprus’ Senate has decided to accept students with certificates from international examinations boards such as G.C.E. A levels and the International Baccalaureate. What are the consequences on the students who are now in public or private schools?

Night bus bid to save young lives

DOZENS of lives can be saved if the public learns to use newly introduced night buses to and from Nicosia, authorities said yesterday.

The buses, available only at the weekend and covering seven Larnaca and Nicosia district villages, will hopefully change teenagers’ and adults’ attitudes to drink driving and public transport.

As a newcomer to this lovely island, I am reluctant to be labelled as a “know all”, but I have followed the various articles on the water shortage, and the letters to the editor on the same subject. I cannot help wondering if there is an obvious measure which would at least alleviate the problem.

Enough talk on road safety

I drive past a British base every week, and all the Cypriot drivers, all of them are driving like good boys, because is no koumbaros to let them off for speeding. So why do the Cyprus police enforce the law in the same way all over Cyprus, to stop all this very fast and dangerous driving? I hope the Cyprus police do something about this, not just talk.
