Drug user dies inhaling gas

A 28-YEAR-old man drug addict died on Sunday evening in Paphos after inhaling liquid gas from a gas canister.

The victim was Michalis Neophytou, a repatriated Cypriot, who was living in Paphos.

Neophytou was taken to Paphos General Hospital in a coma by two Greek friends, who, under questioning, admitted that they were drug users and that the incident occurred when they were inhaling liquid gas from a can. They also said they had used this method as substitute for drugs before.

Despite the efforts of the doctors, Neophytou died approximately one hour after he was taken to hospital.

According to the police, Neophytou’s parents said that they knew that their son was a drug user. The exact cause of death will be known after the autopsy.
