Foreign Ministry saddened at Kosovo move

THE Foreign Ministry said yesterday it was saddened by the unilateral declaration of independence by Kosovo on Sunday.
In a written statement, the Ministry said the move was outside of international law and therefore invalid, and was a violation of Serbia’s territorial integrity and sovereignty.

“We consider this action legally invalid and contrary to UN resolutions,” the Ministry said.

It added that Cyprus believed that an agreed solution between the two parties in Serbia could still be found in the framework of a dialogue and negotiations approved by the UN Security Council.
