Fire wrecks club in Engomi

AN EMPLOYEE was almost burned alive when a huge fire broke out at 5:15am yesterday at the Kallipoleos 4 music venue on October 28 Avenue in Makedonitissa.

The employee fortunately became aware of the fire in time and was able to escape the premises .The fire completely destroyed the club, and the fire brigade battled to stop the flames spreading to adjoining shops, finally bringing the blaze under control at 7.30am.

Liza Kirmitzi, spokeswoman of the Nicosia Fire Brigade, said after careful investigation it appeared that the fire was an act of arson.

The perpetrators forced the main entry as well as the exit door in the rear of the building and investigators found incendiary material in the rubble.

The club was not insured.
