Two arrested for fraud and drug possession

TWO LIMASSOL men have been arrested in a case that combines fraud and drug possession, police said yesterday.

The two suspects, a 28-year-old postman and his 32-year-old friend, claimed they were oblivious to each other’s wrongdoings, police reported.

The 32-year-old was driving the 28-year-old’s car, when police stopped him for a search. They found one gram of heroin and half a gram of cannabis in his possession, as well as 18 suspicious items including credit cards and state-issued cheques.

The man was taken for questioning and while admitting to the drug possession charge, the 32-year-old claimed to be oblivious to the cheques and credit cards, which the 28-year-old postman is suspected of having stolen.

The 28-year-old was subsequently arrested and taken for questioning. He told police that he had no intention of keeping the items or appropriating money in fraudulent ways and that he would have returned them to their rightful owners.
