Weekend burglaries in Limassol

A 23-YEAR-old man was arrested on Sunday night after breaking into a Limassol caf? and stealing a €3,900-worth TV, police said yesterday.

Police was alerted after someone noticed unusual activity outside the caf? at around 8pm on Sunday. When police arrived at the scene, they found the 23-year-old leaving the caf? holding the television, as well as the tools he used to break in. A key to a motorcycle was also found in his possession, and when the bike was traced police found that it had been stolen in December and now had a fake licence plate.

The 23-year-old admitted to committing the crimes and was taken before Limassol District Court on Sunday, where he was remanded in custody for five days.

In a separate incident, a Limassol resident reported to police that his house was burgled on Sunday and €1,025 in cash were stolen.

Meanwhile, a Limassol shop-owner reported that on Saturday night his clothes store was broken into and €150 in cash, as well as merchandise worth €800 were stolen.
