The veggie way to go

You may have heard of Pizza Mia’s pizza’s and salads, but this family restaurant also serves, as I was pleasantly surprised to find, tasty vegetarian pastas. I enjoyed the oven-baked Spaghetti Napolitana’s (€6,24) basic yet rich flavour. The Spaghetti Vegetariana, also good, was almost twice the size as the other orders, and for some reason only €0.50 more expensive. My only complaint is because the same marinara sauce, cheese, and cooking methods are used in both dishes, they tend to taste pretty much the same. (Tip: when ordering, don’t get confused with what they call macaronia sto forno – basically any of their spaghetti dishes baked in the oven – with the traditional ‘macaronia tou fournou’).The winner for me was the Vegetarian Lasagna (€7,86), with its creamy b?chamel sauce topped with a crusty layer of melted cheese. You can get any pasta dish oven-baked with a thick layer of gooey cheese (highly recommended), but you’ll have to pay extra (€1.45 per item). Overall, I was impressed: the food arrived on time, steaming hot, was tasty and the portions generous.
