New poll shows Christofias gaining ground

AKEL candidate Demetris Christofias is gaining ground on incumbent President Tassos Papadopoulos, according to the latest poll published yesterday in Simerini.

The poll, carried out by Insight Market Research, shows Christofias with 32.6 per cent to Papadopoulos’ 33.1 per cent and Kasoulides’ 29.1 per cent.

Collective agreement ends port dispute

THE DISAGREEMENT between the Port Authority and its employees on the terms of the collective agreement has finally come to an end, eliminating the future risk of strikes at Limassol Port.

Cyprus to launch new hydrocarbons licensing

CYPRUS plans to launch a new licensing round for hydrocarbons in offshore blocks in the eastern Mediterranean on July 1, a senior energy official said yesterday.

“We intend, subject to the approval of the Council of Ministers, to announce a second exploration round on July 1,” said Solon Kassinis, head of the energy service at the Ministry of Commerce and Industry.
