Linopetra health centre in the works

CONSTRUCTION work is progressing on schedule for a public health centre at Linopetra, that will be offering services to Ayios Athanasios, Yermasoyia and Mesa Yitonia residents. The centre is expected to open its doors to the public by the end of May.

“These three municipalities have the full support of the Ministry of Health,” said Kyriakos Hadjittofis, Mayor of Ayios Athanasios. As project manager, Mayor Hadittofis is responsible for the centre’s equipment and staffing.

The state, through the Ministry of Health, will cover most of the project’s cost, which amounts to £1.5 million. The three peripheral municipalities will contribute one fifth of the total project expenses.

Linopetra Health Centre is located at the crossing of Kolonakiou and Ypsikaminou streets in Linopetra, and will be offering its services to tens of thousands of residents in Limassol’s northeast suburban area.

It will house eleven different medical specialties, including paediatrics, ophthalmology, gynaecology, x-rays and pathology. It will also operate an emergency unit and an ambulance, which are expected to reduce problems of overcrowding that have been plaguing Limassol General Hospital.
