Man stabs doctor over failed op

A MAN who stabbed an eye doctor turned himself into the police on Tuesday night.
According to his statement, the 24-year-old Lebanese man claimed that he had lost the sight in his right eye after a surgical procedure carried out a year ago by a Cypriot ophthalmologist in Paphos.

The patient waited outside the ophthalmologist’s office on Tuesday before confronting him when he emerged at 8.20pm. An argument broke out before the 24-year-old pulled out a knife, stabbing the doctor in the upper right leg.

The doctor was rushed to Paphos General Hospital, where he was released after receiving medical attention.

Following the incident, the Lebanese man voluntarily walked into a Paphos police station and admitted to the assault. He was immediately arrested, with a court yesterday remanding him in custody for two days.

It is not clear why he waited 12 months before confronting the doctor.
