Kenya travel warning

THE FOREIGN Ministry yesterday warned Cypriots not to travel to Kenya because of post-election violence which has left hundreds of people dead.

Due to the irregular domestic situation in Kenya, the Foreign Ministry “suggests to Cypriot citizens to avoid travelling” to the east African country in the present circumstances, an official statement said.

The Foreign Ministry advised those who have to travel to Kenya to inform the Cypriot High Commission in Nairobi and provide their details and place of stay.

“Cypriot citizens already in Kenya should avoid unnecessary movement, protest areas and in general remain in safe places,” the Foreign Ministry said.

Some 300 people have been killed and thousands displaced in ethnic violence across the country that followed the December 27 presidential vote.
