Teens held for beating up classmate

POLICE yesterday arrested two teenagers on suspicion of beating and injuring a 16-year-old pupil in Limassol.

The incident, which took place in the school yard during break-time last Tuesday, resulted in the 16-year-old boy’s hospitalisation at Nicosia General Hospital.

According to Limassol Police Chief Tasos Economides, the victim was transferred to Nicosia as he needed to have an emergency operation to his knee, as a direct result of the beating.

After questioning a number of witnesses, police arrested two pupils who were yesterday said to have admitted to their crime.

The reasons behind the beating are unknown, though according to Larnaca Press yesterday, the fight began due to something petty.

One pupil was reported saying: “He was punched because he asked them what they were looking at and when they found him on his own later, they beat him.”
