‘One year to go until new Paphos airport opens’

THE NEW Paphos International Airport has less than a year until it becomes a reality, according to an announcement by operator Hermes yesterday.

A press release sent out yesterday said works for the completion of the new Paphos terminal continue at a rapid pace. The company anticipates the new airport will significantly assist the development of the country.

If all goes to plan, the new airport will open its doors to the public in less than a year and “will mark the beginning of a new era for Cyprus and the Paphos district”, the release said.

“With the operation of the new Paphos International Airport, Hermes Airports Ltd, is aiming to provide a higher level of service to travellers to and from Cyprus, and to the growth of the local economy, particularly the tourism industry.”

The new Paphos International Airport will be able to serve about 2,700,000 passengers annually and will include:

• A new single level passenger terminal of 20,000m2
• The new terminal of Paphos
• 24 Check-in Desks
• six security screening positions
• three baggage claim carousels
• 800 car park spaces
