Series of burglaries in Limassol

POLICE HAVE reported five burglaries in Limassol in the last couple of days, noting a rise in the occurrence of such crimes.

In an unusual case, an elderly couple from Limassol reported that on Thursday morning they found a stranger in their kitchen, who had most likely entered through the unlocked back door.
The stranger, later identified as a 21-year-old Limassol man, asked the couple for money, but they refused to give any and told him they had no cash in the house. The intruder politely left, but the couple then realised £70 in cash was missing.

When they reported the incident, police said they suspected the 21-year-old as he had been involved in similar cases in the past. The suspect was traced, but denied any involvement.
The elderly couple was called in to identify the suspect and they confirmed that he was the person who was in their house. A warrant for the suspect’s arrest was issued and he is presently in detention.

In another incident, a man from Limassol reported that on Thursday evening his apartment was burgled and jewellery worth £850 was stolen.

On the same night a second Limassol apartment was broken into. This time burglars took a laptop worth £350, two gold chains worth £100 and £60 in cash.

In a separate case, a third-country national residing in Limassol reported that while she was abroad between October 13 and November 20, garden furniture and a satellite cable were stolen from her house. The stolen items are worth £510.
