Wanted Israeli arrested for child sex offences

A LIMASSOL Court yesterday ordered the immediate extradition of a 45-year-old man who was on the run after being charged with child sex offences in Finland.

The 45-year-old Israeli man, who had been living in Finland when the offences were committed, was wanted by the Finnish Authorities, Interpol and Europol on sex-related charges against children.

He was arrested at his Limassol apartment on Wednesday night before being taken to the Limassol District Court which yesterday decided to extradite him back to Finland.

A message had been sent to the Cypriot police by Europol and Interpol who had information that the 45-year-old was hiding in Cyprus.

Limassol CID eventually tracked him down to an apartment he was renting in Yermasoyia village.

An arrest warrant had been issued against the man from Europol after fleeing Finland while facing charges relating to the sexual exploitation of minors, the sexual harassment of minors as well as charges of fraud and theft.

All the offences were committed last year.
