How can I help relieve a migraine without taking tablets

Dear sir,

Although I am not a frequent migraine sufferer, there are times when the pain strikes and it is unbearable. I know I could take a pain killer and probably rid myself from the blinding pain but I prefer to take alternative, non-pharmaceutical ways. I’ve heard of a few tricks, like sitting in the dark but is there anything else I can try?

Apparently, a large dose of caffeine is known to help many, so a strong shot of black coffee or a shot of espresso will do the trick. Mild yoga postures are also known for their ability to combat pain, so if you get frequent migraines, this could be a useful way to beat them. You should also try a warm washrag or gelpack over your eyes, in a dimly lit room and try to minimise sound. Basically, relaxing and breathing is one of the surest ways to get oxygen to your head and releasing the pain. Drinking lots of water, however, is also one of the best ways to rid yourself of mild migraines.

However, you should know that migraines could be the cause of anything from back pains to stress, so if they become frequent visit a doctor.
