Suspected drug dealer runs over cop

A MAN who ran over a police officer while trying to escape arrest was yesterday remanded in custody for eight days by a Larnaca Court.
According to police, officers belonging to the drug squad, YKAN, moved in when they spotted the 35-year-old suspect handing a suspect package to a 45-year-old from Larnaca.
In an attempt to stop the suspect from speeding off in his car, police stopped their car in front of the suspect’s vehicle. But the suspect put his car into reverse and bolted some ten metres, knocking into a police officer in the process.
He then escaped though the second man was arrested.
The injured officer was taken to Larnaca General Hospital where he was treated for his injuries.

The incident took place at 6.45pm on Wednesday.
YKAN officers later searched the 35-year-old’s house, where they found traces of cannabis and heroin. His wife, who was present at the house, was arrested.
The suspect eventually gave himself up on Wednesday night before being taken before a Larnaca Court the next morning.
Yesterday, a Larnaca Court judge remanded the suspect in police custody for eight days.
