Confronting the police

Sir,

On the way into Parekklisia there is a speed limit of 40km/h. In a confrontational mood, I decided to was follow a police car at his speed – he (and I!) were going at 70km/h. The car stopped in the village – this was my opportunity! I pulled up in front of them and walked back to make the point… One of the policemen looked sheepish, the other tried to make a joke about it.

Although I believe they are legally not obliged to keep to the speed limit (while on duty), police should be setting a good example. If you see them speeding, when possible why not confront them?

On a more positive note, when I called the police when I found that mist nets (bird-catching nets) had been erected in the village, they responded immediately: the nets were removed and have not been seen again.
