What should I do with my ‘Bird of Paradise’ Plants not that they have finished flowering?

After they have finished flowering cut down the main stems and feed well during the summer months with something like Bloom Plus, which encourages flowering. Strelitzias also require a lot of water even though they don’t like to be in full sun as it can burn the leaves. In some areas they flower twice a year. If you live at high elevations then you may have to protect the plants from cold night temperatures.

I love lavender – when should I prune it?

You didn’t say what kind of lavender you grow and there are lots of different varieties of lavender available, flowering at different times. Those with grey foliage do best here. The general rule is to prune after the flowers have died off cutting right back into the lower growth as you do so.
