Missing man

A SEARCH is under way for a 57-year-old man who went missing from a care home in Nicosia on Saturday.

Neophytos Papaneophytou is described as being 170cm in height, of medium-build and with short, white hair.

At the time of his disappearance, he was wearing blue jeans and a shirt and was holding a bag and a radio.

The police have appealed for anybody with any information to come forward or to call the citizen’s hotline on 1460.

Drink driver

A WOMAN who lost control of her car before crashing into an electricity pylon on the Kitiou-Meneou road early on Tuesday morning was arrested after police discovered she was five times over the legal blood alcohol limit.

She was taken to Larnaca General Hospital for a check-up before being charged.
Another nine people were arrested nationwide by the police for drink driving.
In a separate incident in the early hours of Tuesday, a 48-year-old female motorist injured a 14-year-old boy as he attempted to cross the road on Makarios Avenue in Larnaca.

Pub busts

POLICE have clamped down on establishments selling alcoholic drinks without licences, as well as those generating excessive noise.

Five people were charged in late night raids in Paphos on Tuesday night, along with another two in Protaras. Two of those charged in Paphos were for offences relating to violations of the anti-smoking laws.
