Is there anywhere I can buy a record stylus?

I’ve got a large collection of records and am loather to transfer them to a more modern format so use my record player often. However, the stylus has broken. Do you know of a shop that stocks such parts?

Such parts can be expensive to be replace especially if your record-player is a professional one. Andreas Andreou of Showtime Technologies in Nicosia explains that a stylus replacement could be done for free at their shop as long as the record player isn’t very old. “Record-players are fidgety types of equipment especially when they are old and there are times when nothing can be done even though we can contact the manufacturing companies and have the parts sent to us.” Showtime Technologies deals with brands such as Ortofon, NAD and Vestax and is able to service record-players. A good way to avoid the wear and tear of your record player is to follow these procedures before and after each playback: Remove dust from the stylus tip using a suitable small brush, which should be guided carefully along the cantilever in the direction of the stylus tip. Also make sure you clean the record surface from dust by using a fine anti-static brush or cloth.

Showtime can assist you with any other problems regarding your record-player. Unfortunately they are the only ones who deal with this type of equipment in Cyprus but they do cover the whole island.
