Man killed by unexploded shell

A LARGE explosion at a National Guard shooting range in Kalo Chorio in the Larnaca District has killed a 58-year-old from Asgata, in the Limassol district.

Demos Kleopa, a plumber and metal collector was apparently handling an unexploded shell at the range on Sunday when it suddenly exploded, killing him instantly.

Cyprus has one of highest diabetes rates

CYPRUS has one of the highest rates of diabetes in Europe, with one third of the population at risk of developing the insulin resistance condition.

The statistics were presented at a scientific symposium on diabetes in Larnaca by the Cyprus Diabetes Association, in co-operation with Greece’s National Centre for Diabetes and the Larnaca Apollonion Medical Association yesterday.

Drunk mother crashes with kids in car

A MOTHER of two is to appear before a judge after crashing drunk into another vehicle with her two children in the car.

Yesterday, police in Larnaca stated that the 34-year-old woman had 119mg of alcohol in her blood following an alcotest.

The legal alcohol limit in Cyprus is 22mg.

Clover butter recalled

CLOVER BUTTER spread has been withdrawn from the Cyprus market after a massive recall of the product in the UK due to mould.

Two million tubs of Clover, made by Dairy Crest, have been withdrawn worldwide after a production glitch caused mould to develop in the tubs.

THE CHAIRMAN of the Cyprus Tourism Organisation (CTO) was yesterday called to give explanations over the promotion of Cyprus tourism abroad.

RENOWNED Cypriot actor Soteris Moustakas died in the early hours of yesterday aged 67 after falling ill during the rehearsal a production at a theatre in Athens.

He is survived his actress wife Maria Bonelou and one daughter.
