Man tried to blow up ex-wife’s house

A DISGRUNTLED ex-husband has been arrested and detained in police custody on suspicion of trying to blow up the house of his former wife.

Tasos Zyntilis, 39 from Paralimni, was arrested in the early hours of yesterday morning after police officers found a homemade bomb and knives in his car.

Police initially got suspicious when reports came in of a car moving suspiciously close to the Tasos Markou Municipal Sports Stadium, the home stadium of Enosis Neon Paralimniou.

Police moved in and stopped and searched the car finding a homemade explosive device and three knives.

Zyntilis would not say what he was doing in the area and just a few yards away from his ex-wife’s home but did admit that he had serious differences with his ex.

Yesterday, a Famagusta District Court remanded the man in police custody for three days in light of the preliminary investigation.
