Larnaca hopes for amicable resolution

LARNACA Municipality has expressed its “great concern” over the Lymbia community’s protests.

In an announcement yesterday, the district called on the government to offer protestors all the necessary information so works can finally begin on the waste disposal plant.

It pointed out that the procedure of recycling waste in a specific area was prepared “according to EU specifications, which are known for not polluting the environment”.

The municipality added that the waste would be disposed of in a sheltered area with methods that rule out any bad odours or environmental pollution.

“We are calling on all involved bodies to reach an immediate understanding. We are requesting the official side offers more information to the protestors so that works can finally begin for such a significant and pioneering project for Cyprus, which will protect public health and the environment.”
