Girl dies after being hit by car

A FOUR-YEAR-OLD girl from Greece was killed on Sunday morning after being hit by a car in Larnaca suburb of Livadia.

Tragic Kyriaki Zannetou had been attempting to cross the road on Gregoris Afxentiou Avenue when a 4×4 Pajero, driven by a 34-year-old woman, struck her.

The little girl was taken to Larnaca General Hospital where she succumbed to her injuries shortly after.

Zannetou, who has a two-year-old brother, was just outside her relatives’ house where she was staying at with her family for the Easter holidays.

Surrounding residents told the media that the specific road where the accident took place was a very dangerous one, as drivers usually speed down it.

They added that they had relayed these fears to the police on numerous occasions, requesting the creation of road bumps.

Little Zannetou’s, father is Greek Cypriot and her mother is from Greece. The family are permanent residents in Athens.

The 34-year-old woman was interrogated by police, while Oroklini Police are investigating the case.

Later in the same day, a 68-year-old woman was hit by a car in Lakatamia by a 30-year-old woman from Nicosia.

The exact reasons behind the accident are being investigated by the police, while the 68-year-old woman was taken to a private clinic, where she was kept in for treatment.
