Girl dies after being hit by car

A FOUR-YEAR-OLD girl from Greece was killed on Sunday morning after being hit by a car in Larnaca suburb of Livadia.

Tragic Kyriaki Zannetou had been attempting to cross the road on Gregoris Afxentiou Avenue when a 4×4 Pajero, driven by a 34-year-old woman, struck her.

Jealous man set ex-girlfriend alight

POLICE HAVE remanded a Larnaca man in custody for eight days after he attacked and his ex-girlfriend and set her on fire in the early hours of Sunday morning.

The 34-year-old woman managed to put out the flames on the upper part of her body by diving into a puddle in the road in front of her apartment building.

A MAN arrested after police discovered a large cache of explosives in his ex-wife’s home, is claiming to have no knowledge of how they got there.

The 48-year-old, a Syrian who is living in Limassol, was arrested on Saturday and remanded in custody for five days.

Most of the explosive material, discovered in bags hidden in the basement, was TNT.

BURGLARS yesterday broke into a Larnaca jewellery shop and stole around £10,000 by knocking down one of the walls of the shop.

Investigators, who were yesterday questioning one man in connection with the incident, said the culprits had an elaborate plan that was executed at around 4.20am yesterday morning.
