Third body identified in Akrotiri blaze

THE BODY of a two-year-old girl killed in a house fire at RAF Akrotiri on Saturday night was yesterday formally identified as the daughter of the RAF Corporal who, along with his son, also died in the fire.

British Bases spokesman Captain Crispin Coates said: “It is with great sadness I can confirm that the third victim of the fire is named as Nia Greenough.”

He added that the investigation into the blaze is still ongoing and we are unable to speculate on the causes of the tragedy.

Nia’s five-year-old brother Evan, along with their father, RAF Corporal Andy Greenough, 37, were also killed. Greenough’s wife was not home at the time.

The fire broke out at the family’s house in the married quarters at Akrotiri at around 9pm but spread too rapidly to be contained or for the family to be rescued.

There is no suspicion of foul play.
