Drugs arrests

THREE MEN and a minor from Paphos are under arrest on suspicion of possessing and trafficking narcotics.

Late on Friday night, police pulled over a car in the village of Yeroskipou. One of the two men on board, a 24-year-old, then jumped out and tried to flee. As he ran, he was seen throwing away plastic bags. The 24-year-old was chased down and eventually caught.

Inside the vehicle, officers found 13 plastic bags containing 8 grams of cannabis. Both men were arrested on the spot.

The suspects then took police to their house, where officers discovered equipment a small quantity of cannabis, a scale, two handheld radios, a bat and an arbalest.

While the house was being searched, a 16-year old driving by outside was stopped and questioned by police. He admitted to lending his car to the two suspects so that they could traffic the drugs. The youth was also placed under arrest, and was yesterday remanded in custody for three days.

The two men have been remanded in custody for eight days.
