World reacts to demolition of last divide

WHILE THE world “warmly welcomes” the demolition of the Ledra Street wall in Nicosia, all indications are that the crossing is no closer to opening as long as Turkish troops remain in and around the area.

GREEK Cypriot leaders and politicians yesterday were unanimous in welcoming the knocking down of the Ledra Street wall, but stressed there was still a long way to go to the actual opening of the crossing point there.

Women need to be aware of breast cancer risks

CYPRUS’ BREAST cancer medical oncology treatments are on par with treatments offered in the US and other European countries, a leading medical oncologist said yesterday.

This was the conclusion Dr Maria Theodoulou-Haber said she had drawn from her brief visit to Cyprus this week.

“Where work still needs to be done is on breast cancer education,” she said.

New premises to offer greater services
