Hassapis Omonia are the comeback as Intercollege are relegated

PANAYIOTIS Giannas netted 25 points to help Hassapis Omonoia basketball team clinch the third regular season position with a convincing 91-75 win over Frederick Achilleas Kaimakliou on Sunday night.

Renos Pittalis showed no mercy for the Kaimakliou side after they decided to employ Takis Mirallais over him at the beginning of the season, despite the fact that Pittalis led them to the promotion in the previous season. Hassapis Omonoia was trailing throughout the match, but used a punishing 27-11 fourth quarter to come on top and win the game.

Jerome La Grange scored 19 points for Hassapis Omonoia, while Goran Adzic chipped in with 15 points and nine rebounds. Vladimir Zaric was also one rebound shy of double-double adding to it 12 points.

Isaac Burton led Frederick Achilleas Kaimkliou with 21 points, while Andjelko Mandic scored 17. Darrin Fowlkes and Samir Gouda had 15 and 12 points respectively.

Intercollege ETHA has officially been relegated as they ended a completely miserable season with a loss to Keravnos Cyprus College 84-67. Sasa Mijajlovic scored 18 points for the Strovolos side, while Sirille Makanda added 17. Quincy Davis had 22 points for Intercollege ETHA.

In the final match played on Sunday, Pizza Express Apollon defeated disappointing YDRA Asphalistiki ENAD 77-65 in Limassol. Aleksandar Damjanovic led the hosts with 17 points, while Andreas Pilavas poured a game-high 22 for the visitors.
