Man missing after ship sinks in rough seas

A NORTH Korean flagged Syrian ship sank in rough weather off Cyprus yesterday as rescue teams saved six of the seven crew members. The seventh was still missing last night.

Police said they had received information of a Mayday call from the ship, the Haj Jamal at around 5.30am yesterday.

Ports battle to clear backlog after truckers lift blockade

THE EU has an obligation to support countries affected by drought, Agriculture Minister Fotis Fotiou said yesterday after meeting with his counterparts from eight EU Mediterranean countries.

Wanted traffic cop ‘committed suicide’

A TRAFFIC policeman found dead in his Limassol apartment on Saturday is thought to have committed suicide after being linked to a fake euro scam.

The autopsy carried out by State Coroner Eleni Antoniou on Sunday found respiratory problems had caused his death and that this could have been from the use of anabolic drugs. Antoniou ruled out the possibility of a criminal attack.
