Flights to UK back on track after storms

MAJOR AIRLINES yesterday said their flight schedules were running as normal despite Northern Europe being hit by severe storms.

General manager of Cyprus Airways Christos Kyriakides explained that the airline’s programme was running as scheduled yesterday, with no cancellations. “Passengers may face an extra 10-15 minutes on their flight times due to strong westerly winds affecting north-western Europe, but no other problems have been reported.”
On Thursday, flight CY346 from Larnaca to London Heathrow was cancelled due to bad weather, with passengers accommodated on the next flight, CY326 at 5.45pm.
A British Airways spokeswoman also confirmed that there were no changes to the airline’s flight schedules yesterday.

Flight BA663 to London Heathrow was delayed by two-and-a-half hours on Thursday afternoon due to the weather conditions but eventually took off at 6.40pm.
Britain was yesterday battered for a second day by severe weather, after the fiercest winds to hit the country in almost two decades brought widespread destruction on Thursday, leaving at least 12 people dead, wrecking transport networks and causing damage worth millions of pounds.
