Youth’s accident injuries a mystery

CYPRUS police were last night looking into an incident in which an 18-year old was found injured in a car accident on the Yeri road but whose injuries were not the result of the accident.

A police spokesman would not release the name of the youth, whose car had caught fire and who was rushed to hospital at around 5pm. “We don’t know yet exactly what happened,” a police spokesman said.

According to state television, two other youths had gone to the 18-year old’s house earlier and beaten him up. He managed to get into his car to go to hospital but lost control of the vehicle on the way.

He was taken to hospital but doctors were surprised to discover that none of his injuries were a result of the accident. The youth was said to have sustained head injuries but his condition was not serious.
