Bomb explosion in Limassol

A BOMB went off outside a pub in Limassol in the early hours of yesterday.
The blast took place at around 3am outside the Golden Glass pub, on Epirou Street. The pub was closed at the time.

Police said the bomb was placed outside the pub, which is owned by Antonis Antoniou and Dinos Charalambous. The explosion caused extensive damage to the windows of the pub, while also damaging some windows of nearby shops. In their report to the police, 32 year-old Antoniou and 42 year-old Charalambous categorically denied that they had professional differences with anybody that might lead them to act in this way.

One hour earlier, just before 2am, a fire broke out in a warehouse shed on Franklin Roosevelt Avenue, also in Limassol. The fire completely destroyed the contents of the warehouse, which was being used at the time as a storage area for fruit and vegetables. A car which was in the shed was also destroyed.

According to the owner, Charis Samaras, the cost of the damage is approximately £240,000. The 10 workers of the fruit and vegetable shop are being questioned in relation with the incident, as there are possibilities that they may have caused the fire unintentionally.
