Where to get the weather report

THE SPATE of bad weather that has hit much of Cyprus over the last couple of weeks, has left many tourists wondering where they can get reliable up to date weather reports. Regular in depth reports are issued by the police and broadcast on the radio, but only in Greek.

The spokesman form the Cyprus Tourism Association, Pantelides Ioannides, told the Cyprus Mail, “I feel that there should be a service whereby tourists can get such information, and of course there are many sources available”.

Zacharias Ioannides, the director General of the Cyprus Hotels Association said that most hotels would also provide any weather forecasts upon request. “We are renowned here in Cyprus for our hospitality. Most hotels will do their utmost to provide anything that the guest requires, including detailed weather reports.

CyBC television runs daily weather reports at the end of their English news broadcast giving a broad overview of the major weather patterns. For more detailed information the Cyprus Meteorological Department can be contacted, or there are detailed daily forecasts given at www.cyprus-weather.com.

Snow is expected to make its first appearance of the winter this weekend, with reports suggesting that the Troodos Mountains will be the most likely recipient.
