Fuse box explosion

AN elderly woman was rushed to hospital on Wednesday morning after a fuse box outside her old home on Ayios Lazarus street in Larnaca exploded, CyBC television reported yesterday.

Seventy-nine year-old Niki Spyrou Christou was taken to Larnaca General by ambulance suffering from breathing difficulties.

Her husband described the explosion as sounding like, “an aeroplane’s engines, accompanied by a huge, bright light.”

He said there was, “smoke everywhere and the house still stinks.”

Electricity Authority officials have taken the fuse box away for investigation.
